Today’s Goals and Jobs – 4/7/2016

Well, it’s the second week of working on the site and here we are! Here my goals and the jobs I’m working on for 4/7/2016. As always to everyone who votes in the polls and helps in the comments. Remember to follow me on Twitter to get more updates.

What’s Going On

I did meet met my goal of getting some translation done, but less than a usual day, four support conversations, to be exact, which can be found here. If you’re interested in really messed up Treehouse translations, then you’ll want to check out Gray x Ignis support conversations especially:

Ignis x Sophie C

Ignis x Sophie B

Gray x Ignis B

Gray x Ignis A

In addition, I did end up getting to posting a poll about Byakuya Kingdom’s honorifics. Small cheers for small victories, right? Translate them into English or leave the Japanese -san, -sama, -kun suffixes? Click here to learn more and vote!

I also got a request to translate this Damonge article on the future of the game industry on the current social climate, which proved to be rather well-liked.

Today’s Goals

  • Back to normal, 5+ supports and as much Skinship as I can
  • I think I need name polls for Marx and Elfy, because I’m not sure I have their names spelled correctly.
  • In addition, I might have a surprise today. Let’s see if I can get around to it!

Possible Complications: As Rihanna sings, “Work, work, work, work! My hands really hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt!” I’m going to have to figure out how to space out typing things up since both this effort and my job both involve typing and I don’t want to hurt myself!

How you can help out: Vote! If you see polls or places where you can offer feedback, speak up! And of course I welcome any criticisms of the translation. You can see updates for all the changes I’m making in the Changelog.

Jobs I Need Done

  • As always, feedback on translations and polls is always appreciated.
  • Vote! Go to the poll page linked above and cast your vote!
  • If anybody has any idea how to do in-page links (you know how in a site like Lie-a-pedia you can go to different spots on the same page when you click a link) in WordPress, I’d appreciate a shout out with some help, because nothing I’ve tried so far is working!

As always, there’s a page to discuss matter with others or contact me about how they’d like to help out with the Fire Emblem Fates project. It’s been updated to a new page for April. You can use that page for April to discuss things with other members in a more general nature. Thank you for all the people who contacted me or contributed so far! Much love and respect! As well, don’t forget there’s also a page for you to request any kind of Japanese information you need, regardless of whether it’s about Fire Emblem Fates or not. This page has also been updated for April.

Sophie: … Oh really? You’re really not … angry? / ゾフィー: …本当?\n本当にもう…怒ってない?

Ignis: Nope … / イグニス: ああ…

Sophie: Okay, then laugh. / ゾフィー: じゃあ、笑って。

Ignis: … What are you on? / イグニス: …なんだと?

Sophie: If you laugh for me, then I can relax … / ゾフィー: イグニスが笑ってくれたら、\nあたしも安心できるから…

Ignis: ………… / イグニス: …………

… *smile* / …ニコッ。

Sophie: Eeeek! You ARE angry, aren’t you! / ゾフィー: ひぃぃぃ!\nやっぱりまだ、怒ってるじゃん!

Ignis: … I have no idea what to do with you. / イグニス: …俺はどうしたらいいんだ。

Translation end!

Translation notes: I wonder if I’m translating screams like Eeek, Aiiiee, Auggh, Ah, Ooh and so on correctly sometimes … got any other comments or criticisms to make? Let me know in the comments below.

Translation start:

Sophie: … What’s this? Aiiiieee! / ゾフィー:…あれ?\nあわわわわ!?

Ignis: Sophie … Why, are you dancing here? / イグニス: ゾフィー…なぜ、こんなところで踊っている?

Sophie: I’m not dancing at all! / ゾフィー: 踊ってるんじゃないよ!
There’s some sort of bug thing … crawling somewhere on my back! /背中からなんか…虫みたいのが入っちゃったの!
Ignis: A b-bug? / イグニス: む、虫だと!?
Sophie: Ignis! Get it! Get it! / ゾフィー: イグニス!取って取って!
Ignis: Err … I … / イグニス: いや…俺は…
Sophie: Get it away get it away get it away! Quickly, quickly! / ゾフィー: 取って取って取ってー!早く早く!
I can’t get because it’s on my back! Please, I’m begging you! / 背中だから自分じゃ無理!お、お願いだから!
Ignis: Er, eh, don’t panic. First, c-c-calm down./ イグニス: あ、あわ、慌てるな。まずはお、お、お、落ち着け。
Sophie: Why are you putting distance between us? Get it quickly! / ゾフィー: なんで遠ざかっていくの!?早く取ってよー!
Ignis: D-don’t come here. I’m begging you … / イグニス: こ、こっちに来るな。頼むから…!

Sophie: Yes it is. It really is a good thing. / ゾフィー: うんうん。ほんとに良かったよー。
… No it isn’t! /…じゃなくて!
You’re horrible Ignis! Why on earth didn’t you help me out!? / 酷いよイグニス!なんで助けてくれなかったのーーー!?
Ignis: … One who would be a soldier, should not touch women recklessly. / イグニス: …戦士たるもの、無闇に女性に触れるものではないからな。
Sophie: Oh, is that it? You’re surprisingly gentlemanly. / ゾフィー: あ、そっか。意外と紳士なんだね。
… But, is that really the only reason? You’ve been crushing that protective charm in your hand … /…でも、ほんとにそれだけが理由?さっきからお守りを握り締めてるけど…
Ignis: T-That’s because … I’m … a soldier. / イグニス: そ、それも…俺が…戦士だからだ。
I was praying, since I couldn’t recklessly touch a woman, perhaps the bug would go somewhere else quickly … / 無闇に女性に触れられないぶん、せめて虫が早くどこかに行くようにと…
Sophie: Hmmm. I don’t really get it, but … well, next time, step up and help me. / ゾフィー: ふーん。よくわからないけど…じゃあ、次はちゃんと助けてよね。
Ignis: … All right. … I shall strive to do the upright thing. / イグニス: …ああ。…最善を尽くそう。

Translation end!

Translation notes:  最善を尽くす(saizen wo tsukusu) or the expression in that last line is something like a promise and the word saizen literally means “the greatest good,” tsukusu is like putting in an effort or working so hard to the best of your abilities. I translated it like that, but I wonder if there’s another way? Let me know if you found anything else or have an opinion on that in the comments below.
