Today’s Goals and Jobs – 4/13/2016

Here are my goals and the jobs I’m working on for 4/13/2016. I see some new people have been commenting recently. Thanks much to new and old commenters! Remember to follow me on Twitter to get more updates.

What’s Going On:

Well, I didn’t really have a goal because of the internet issues, but I still got a ton translated:

Hinata x Orochi C

Hinata x Orochi B

Hinata  x Orochi  A

Hinata x Orochi S

Ophelia x Shalla C

Ophelia x Shalla B

Ophelia x Shalla A

Kamui (M) x Sakura C

Ignis x Nyx C

Ignis x Matoi C

Asama x Mozume C

Nyx Skinship Lines

Shigure Skinship Lines

As well, big news! I got a request to do a second game, which is Angelique for the SNES/SFC. So obviously Fire Emblem Fates will continue to be the main attraction until it’s done. Once it is done, Angelique will be the main project, but until then, when I have some free time, I’ll be working on it in spurts, so as not to conflict with Fire Emblem Fates. Look for the first Angelique translations sometime soon.

Today’s Goals

  • Clear up older translations and incorporate feedback to edit them as well catch up on the site. I did a lot of translations while I couldn’t access the internet because the material is on my hard drive, but since I couldn’t access the site, I couldn’t correct older translations. I got a lot of feedback in those two days as well, so I thought I’d take a day to catch up on the backlog.

Possible Complications: Still got paying work to do.

How you can help out: Well, there was a bevy of new translations posted today. Any feedback and criticism is welcome!

Jobs I Need Done

  • I will always and forever need people to comment on my translations as much they can.
  • Vote! It’s spoiler free. If you’re waiting for the translation patch, these polls aren’t going to ruin anything for you.
  • Speaking of feedback, we had discusses before how to do translations of the different personality types for Kamui, the player character. I decided in the end to put notes at the end of the translation if it didn’t affect a lot of lines and to put all three personalities/politeness types together if there were many, many lines that got affected. Take a look at Kamui (M) x Sakura to see how I did it and let me know if that seems like an okay approach.

As always, there’s a page to discuss matter with others or contact me about how they’d like to help out with the Fire Emblem Fates project. It’s been updated to a new page for April. You can use that page for April to discuss things with other members in a more general nature. Thank you for all the people who contacted me or contributed so far! Much love and respect! As well, don’t forget there’s also a page for you to request any kind of Japanese information you need, regardless of whether it’s about Fire Emblem Fates or not. This page has also been updated for April.

Fire Emblem Fates Shigure Skinship Lines

Please Note: The following material obviously spoils some of the story of Fire Emblem Fates. Please read responsibly at your own risk and oh my peach pie.

Here’s the skinship lines for Shigure. Most of these have been cut in the US/European version due to the removal of the skinship gameplay feature. (Original Japanese is included for reference and better transparency.) Please note the numbers correspond to the numbered voice file, but I cut off the beginning code, because it has no relevance here. (Anyone wanting to use this for a translation, should know where it goes by the numbers anyway.)

Translation notes: As you can see Shigure’s lines fit his more classy lifestyle, but everyone gets a certain amount of playfulness in their Skinship lines. Any place where I made a typo or mistake? Let me know your criticisms and comments below!

Today’s Goals and Jobs – 4/9/2016

Tomorrow is Saturday! Here are my goals and the jobs I’m working on for 4/9/2016. Thanks again to everyone who is helping out! Remember to follow me on Twitter to get more updates.

What’s Going On:

I met my goal of doing six supports and one skinship. Lots of them showed significant differences from the Treehouse versions. Here they are:

Foleo x Shigure B

Foleo x Shigure A

Joker  x Sakura  C

Joker x Sakura B

Joker x Sakura A

Joker x Sakura S

Fuuga Skinship Lines

Still haven’t gotten those polls up. Gotta do that!

Today’s Goals

  • Translate 5+ supports, some skinship and who knows what else?
  • Marx and Elfy, I’ve been neglecting you. I promise I’m going to get to your name polls soon.
  • Fawful Friday posts ahoy!

Possible Complications: Luckily, I already did quite a lot of work this morning on an emergency assignment, so I’m free for the rest of the day.

How you can help out: Since the amount of links on this site are getting crazy, if you see a broken link or something hard to navigate, please, please let me know what’s wrong. Of course, constructive criticism on translations, voting in polls, all that is welcome and solicited. You can see updates for all the changes I’m making in the Changelog.

Jobs I Need Done

  • I will always and forever need people to comment on my translations as much they can.
  • Vote! It’s spoiler free. If you’re waiting for the translation patch, these polls aren’t going to ruin anything for you.
  • I’m going to continue to request help for the method of doing in-page links, because nothing I’ve tried so far is working!

Fire Emblem Fates Support Conversation: Foleo x Shigure A

Please Note: The following material obviously spoils some of the story of Fire Emblem Fates. Please read responsibly at your own risk and don’t forget your supercalifragilisticexpiallidocious.

Here’s the support conversation between Foleo x Shigure for the A level. (Original Japanese is included for reference and better transparency.)

Comments? Questions? Criticisms? Want to let me if I made a typo or if a better approach would work somewhere? Let me know in the comments below.

Translation start:

Foleo: I wonder w-why … /

Shigure: Y-yeah … /

Foleo: I never thought all of them would guess correctly … /

Shigure: Mm-hmm … it was completely beyond expectation … that it would end this way, I never expected this …

Foleo: I wanted everyone to say, “I don’t know” and then see their surprised faces when told them who it really was …

Shigure: R-right … but hey … /

Well in the end, it’s not like they insulted us either, so it’s all good, right?

Foleo: I guess so … Everyone said it, Shigure, /

“We knew it was him, anyone would, because you drew him so well.”

That means they were really praising your skill with art. /

Shigure: They said much the same of you, Foleo. /

“The only one in the army, man or woman, with this kind of beauty is me,” / 「こんな美人は軍の中において男女問わず、フォレオしかいない」って。

Is this not the ultimate compliment for you?

Foleo: Ohoho … makes me blush a little. The prank may have ended in failure, but / フォレオ: うふふ…

both of us were praised everyone, so let’s call it even.

Shigure: That’s right … it was really fun. /

Foleo: … Shigure. The prank failed, but / フォレオ: …

Do you mind if we continue our discussions about all the facets of art and culture? /

Shigure: Yes, of course. Let’s converse to our heart’s content! /

Foleo: Thank you! Here’s to you, Shigure. /

Shigure: And to you, Foleo. /

Translation end!

Translation notes: In the part where Shigure says, “Let’s converse to our heart’s content,” the “to our heart’s content” isn’t explicitly written, but the expression used often tends to have that kind of meaning in English in the context its often used. It’s like an invitation to open up and talk as much as one wants and to joyously engage in conversation. You often see it said at the beginning of conferences or seminars where a lot of people’s opinions are invited and they want to talk about something in depth. In any case, is there anything I should change? Let me have your constructive criticism and feedback in the comments below.

Fire Emblem Fates Support Conversation: Foleo x Shigure B

Please Note: The following material obviously spoils some of the story of Fire Emblem Fates. Please read responsibly at your own risk and a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

Here’s the support conversation between Foleo x Shigure for the B level. (Original Japanese is included for reference and better transparency.)

Comments? Questions? Criticisms? Want to let me if I made a typo or if a better approach would work somewhere? Let me know in the comments below.

Translation start:

Foleo: Shigure, we’ve finally finished it!

Shigure: Yes, not bad if I do say so myself. /

Shall we call it … the portrait of Foleo as a noble lady? /

Hehehe … /

Foleo: Of course. /

After all, I went through the trouble of wearing the dress of a true lady to be your model for this painting. /

Without revealing that it was me, / これを僕のことは明かさず、

When I ask my friends, “Try and guess who this is,” …

I wonder who will be able to answer correctly … ? Hehehe, it’s going to be good.

Shigure: I don’t think ANYONE will be to get it, do you?

This picture looks like a woman no matter what angle you view it from and your clothes here are so different from what you usually wear, Foleo. /

Foleo: Yes, I think so as well!

Shigure: That said, this kind of large-scale prank … it’s the first time I’ve ever done something like it!

I feel like we’ve gone back to our childhood, it’s quite stimulating. /

Foleo: Well then, let’s get a move on and go and show everyone! /

Shigure: Ah! Foleo! Wait a second! /

Shouldn’t you be hiding in the shadows? /

If both of us go and ask, “Who’s the subject of this picture?” /

We’d be letting the cat out of the bag immediately. /

Foleo: Ooh, you’re right … ! No good that, no good at all …

Shigure: Phew … okay, shall we go?

You should leisurely walk behind me at a distance so they don’t come on to you, Foleo.  /

Foleo: Yes, surely! /

Translation end!

Translation notes: As I said in the other dialogue, Foleo and Shigure both speak like proper nobles, so I have translated them that way. When Foleo says いけない、いけない (ikenai) this is a more normal type of expression that you say when you’re not supposed to be doing something, but I did try to give it a more noble flare because of the context of their speech. I’m not sure “no good, no good at all” fits, but it’s all I can think of is that. Do I need to correct that or something else? Let me in the comments below.

Today’s Goals and Jobs – 4/8/2016

We’re heading for the weekend! Here are my goals and the jobs I’m working on for 4/8/2016. Thanks for all your help, guys! Remember to follow me on Twitter to get more updates.

What’s Going On

I did meet met my goal of getting at least five support conversations a day done, but sadly no Skinship. So another day of rather mediocre results. The conversations are as below:

Foleo x Shigure C

Deere x Ophelia C

Kagero x Setsuna C

Orochi x Takumi C

Eponine x Shinonome C

Today’s Goals

  • Keep on chugging, 5+ supports and as much Skinship as I can
  • Those name polls for Marx and Elfy, I need to get to them.

Possible Complications: Gotta keep that real-life workflow flowing.

How you can help out: Feedback, criticism and votes, as always! You can see updates for all the changes I’m making in the Changelog.

Jobs I Need Done

  • If you see a translation page with no comments on it, why not take a brief look? If you see something to fix, tell me about it. If not, say, “This looks good. Didn’t find any problems,” or something to that extent. I do wait a while before I correct and edit translations just to make sure I don’t ignore anyone who comes along to comment, but I do get around to them!
  • Vote! Come on guys, it’s not that hard to click on a straw poll and choose an option! There are no spoilers.
  • I’m going to continue to request help for the method of doing in-page links, because nothing I’ve tried so far is working!

Fire Emblem Fates Support Conversation: Foleo x Shigure C

Please Note: The following material obviously spoils some of the story of Fire Emblem Fates. Please read responsibly at your own risk and chim-chimminy, chim-chimminy, chim chim cheroo.

Here’s the support conversation between Foleo x Shigure for the C level. (Original Japanese is included for reference and better transparency.)

Comments? Questions? Criticisms? Want to let me if I made a typo or if a better approach would work somewhere? Let me know in the comments below.

Translation start:

Foleo: Greetings, Shigure. Drawing pictures again today, are you?

Shigure: That’s right, Foleo. /

Foleo: This is an … oil painting? /

Shigure: Yes, I thought I’d try something a little different than the watercolors I usually indulge in.

This oil painting technique is something that was all the rage some decades ago. /

Foleo: Ohhh … say, speaking of several decades ago, /

I heard that’s the period when Anya had it’s great cultural revolution. /

But it wasn’t just painting, all sorts of things in different arts and skills were born in that period. /

The fashion of curling long hair like mine was / 僕のように長い髪をこうやってカールさせるのも

also something that came from that period.

Shigure: Quite right. Come to think of it … in the portraits drawn in that period, /

There might have been a lot of pictures of ladies that had your hair, Foleo. /

Art is intrinsically connected to the culture of the masses, you know …

Foleo: It’s lovely to talk on so with you about such things, Shigure.

Shigure: Hehe, same here.

Foleo: … Ah, that’s it! I just thought of something fun to do!

Shigure: Fun? /

Foleo: Shigure, listen … /

I’m sure we’ll surprise everyone with … *whisper whisper* /

Shigure: Mm-hmm … /

Translation end!

Translation notes: These two are really cute, but unlike a lot of the other conversations, they don’t differing natures to contrast against. Both Foleo and Shigure are polite, nice and fastidious in their speech, despite whatever personality differences they have. They’re like two high born noble kids talking (especially since they are the sons of nobles), but like some of the other characters who don’t really talk like they are nobles, these two have blue blood flowing through a lot of their dialogue. I wonder if I translated that well enough? Let me know if there’s something I can do to improve it in the comments below.
