Eponine: Ohohoho … /
It’s wonderful thing to be able to see a play in the town square … /
I have to get there quickly and secure a good seat so my view is good.
I mean, there are two main characters! Not only that, but both of them are men!
Smells just like the beginnings of a romance that stems from friendship among men …
Shinonome: Auggh! /
Eponine: Kyaaa! /
Shinonome: Oof, I almost bumped straight into you … sorry, are you okay? /
What’s this? Eponine … is that you?
Eponine: Sh-Shinonome! Watch where you’re going! /
Shinonome: Sorry. I really wasn’t looking where I was going. But how about you, you looked pretty distracted too?
Eponine: Err … /
Shinonome: Not only that, you were hurrying along quite quickly. Do you have some sort errand you have to complete quickly? /
Eponine: Ah! That’s right! I don’t have time to talk the likes of you.
I’ve got my wonderful, wonderful play to …
Shinonome: Huh? Play? Oh of course, you were hurrying to see the play. /
That’s the one in the town square right? You know I’m actually into it too./ それって町の広場でやるやつだろ？
Great, it’s decided! Let me go with you!
Eponine: What? You can’t just decide things like that!
Why do I have to see it together with you?
Shinonome: Apparently you can see it for free, so come on, it’s fine right?
The theme of friendship between guys, so it doesn’t seem like it will be stuffy. /
I’ve not seen many plays, so using this chance to see one sounds fun. /
Eponine: I thought I just told you NO!
Shinonome: Great, let’s go! Look, if we don’t get their quickly, all the seats will be gone! /
Eponine: What? Don’t pull me! Stoopppp! /
Translation notes: So why remove a Les Miserables reference in Eponine’s name? Is Shinonome really that hard to pronounce in English that you’d have to change it to Shiro? I don’t understand name changes. I feel like I translated the parts about them going quickly to the show a little forced. Perhaps that needs help? Got some criticism or comments? If you want to see how Nintendo just decided to make a bunch up of dialogue rather than translate what’s there, the Fire Emblem fans at Serene’s Forest have transcribed the official translation here.
