Translation start:

Nishiki: Asama … got a minute? /

Asama: Oh my, Nishiki, is it?

After I put you through all that the other day, you’ve come to be tricked by me again? /

Nishiki: About that … I think, after all, you’re pretty amazing. /

Asama: Whatever do you mean? /

Nishiki: Because the fact that you can read the whether meanings that you really do ascetic training and attain that skill, right?

If that’s the case, then the fact that you overcame the difficult of your training means that you’re rightfully gaining power. /

Asama: ………… /

Nishiki: On top of that, it’s true that you actually did tough ascetic stuff like that waterfall raining, right?

Asama: Well, yes … /

Nishiki: … I knew it. That means you really are amazing! /

If you’ve done all that hard training, one day you just might hear the voices of the enlightened gentleman. /

And when you actually do, this time I want you teach me!

Asama: … Nishiki. /

I thought you were a funny target to make fun of, but …

You just might be the type of person I just don’t mesh with.

Nishiki: What? What are you talking about?/ ニシキ: えっ?

Asama: Not only does none of my bitter hate get through to you, but you honestly praise me …

… I find it interferes with my constitution. / …

Nishiki: Hmm … well then, why not make fun of me more and get rid of your resentment? /

Asama: … That might be a good move. /

I can’t let it end here. Some day soon, I shall beguile you with more ridicule. /

Nishiki: Ahahah, “beguile you with ridicule,” I’ve never heard anyone talk like that before.

Asama: You’re only going to be laughing for a little while.

Better prepare yourself, because I’m about to show you the real article. /

Nishiki: Yaaay, I can’t wait! /

Translation end!

Translation notes: I liked how at the end of the conversation Nishiki’s propensity to be pure and friendly turns the situation on its head here and I hope I accurately translated how his innocent remark about not hearing anyone talk like Asama reveals the irony of how mean and fake Asama is. Anything I could do better to get across that theme in the dialogue? Let me know in the comments below!

If you want to see how Nintendo tried to take the bite of Asama’s vicious nature and added their own interpretation to the conversation, the Fire Emblem fans at Serene’s Forest have transcribed this conversation here.
